INDEPENDENCE CALL FOR ENGLAND MADE BY THE ENGLISH DEMOCRATS

INDEPENDENCE CALL FOR ENGLAND MADE
BY THE ENGLISH DEMOCRATS
Press Release

At our national conference in Leicester on Saturday, 21st September, the English Democrats adopted the following resolution:-

Independence for England

The English Democrats believe that England should again be an independent nation state and we will campaign to that end.

The English Democrats demand that a referendum be held for the People of England to decide whether England should become independent again and secede from the United Kingdom and the European Union.

For the first time in history there is now a fully-fledged English nationalist party that is calling for England to become independent and to leave the United Kingdom.

At a well attended meeting at the Hilton Hotel, Leicester, the English Democrats Annual Party Conference on the 21st September unanimously adopted as its key note campaigning policy a campaign for the English Nation to be given a chance for a referendum to vote for independence from the United Kingdom.

Independence for England is an increasingly popular policy. In July 2013 the Labour supporting Think Tank, the IPPR, in its paper entitled “England and its Two Unions – The Anatomy of a Nation and its Discontents”, noted that even in “the complete absence of any public debate around English citizenship”, nevertheless “England is emerging as a political community” and up until now “despite no significant political party or actor advocating independence for England those supporting the proposition that England should become an independent country at 34% were only narrowly outnumbered by those in opposition 38%.” Whereas if Scotland votes to become independent “a plurality (39%, compared with 33% who disagreed) then said that England too should become independent. The IPPR report also shows that the constitutional status quo is, across the whole of England and across all social classes, “consistent and less favoured than English independence”.

Robin Tilbrook, the Chairman of the English Democrats said: “We are delighted that this proposal attracted such overwhelming support amongst the English Democrats. At a time when Scotland and Wales are moving towards independence it is more than time for England and the English Nation to consider whether we too should become independent. English nationalists are overwhelmingly Eurosceptic and English independence offers, as the EU Commission and Mr Barroso have confirmed in the case of Scotland, independence offers an immediate and automatic exit from the EU. Mr Barroso’s comments suggest that an independent England “would have to re-apply” for EU membership.

Robin Tilbrook went on:- “The idea of an increasingly Eurosceptic English nation “re-applying” for EU membership is hugely entertaining”.

Key facts about the English Democrats

The English Democrats launched in 2002. The English Democrats are the English nationalist Party which campaigns for a referendum for Independence for England; for St George’s Day to be England’s National holiday; for Jerusalem to be England’s National Anthem; to leave the EU; for an end to mass immigration; for the Cross of St George to be flown on all public buildings in England.

The English Democrats are England’s answer to the Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru. The English Democrats’ greatest electoral successes to date include winning the Directly Elected Executive Mayoralty of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and the 2012 referendum; We won the referendum which triggered a referendum to give Salford City an Elected Mayor; In 2012 we saved all our deposits in the Police Commissioner elections and came second in South Yorkshire; In the 2009 EU election we gained 279,801 votes after a total EU campaign spend of less than £25,000 (giving the English Democrats by far the most cost efficient electoral result of any serious Party in the UK)

NIKKI SINCLAIRE MEP – DEVIOUS, DISHONOURABLE AND HYPOCRITICAL?

NIKKI SINCLAIRE MEP – DEVIOUS, DISHONOURABLE AND HYPOCRITICAL?

One of the “interesting” issues that arose over the on/off affair of Mike Nattrass was that the UKIP defector, Nikki Sinclaire MEP, issued a press release and blog item attacking the English Democrats in wild and hysterically vitriolic terms.   Edited highlights of this rant include the bizarre claims that the English Democrats are "extremist" and "now contain and tolerate some of the most undesirable and disgusting people in our society" and "who seem on intent on enlarging themselves primarily first and foremost regardless of normal and social acceptability"!

Nikki Sinclaire had previously sought to persuade Mike Nattrass not to join us.  Mike must have been talking to people about it as he told me that both she and UKIP’s Deputy Leader, Paul Nuttall MEP, had tried to smear us.  Paul Nuttall was desperately trying to persuade Mike Nattrass to stay in UKIP, but for Nikki Sinclaire to try to smear us is a glaring example of all that is worst in those all too many politicians who behave with cynical self-interest and dishonest, manipulative disingenuousness.

This is the same Nikki Sinclaire, who having dropped out of UKIP for reasons that remain opaque to me, launched a new single issue party, with a blaze of negligible interest from either prospective members or the media, calling it “We want an EU Referendum Party”.

In 2010, while she was still a UKIP MEP, she had come to address our Party Conference and had been genuinely welcomed.  Many of our members signed the petition that she was then running, perhaps not realising that one of the things that she was trying to do was build up a useful database.

About two months ago Nikki telephoned me out of the blue at home to ask the English Democrats to enter into a formal alliance with her and her new Party.  Her idea was for us to stand across much of England but for us to allow her and her party to have a free run in the West Midlands and in the other nations of the UK.  Apart from us allowing her a chance of being re-elected in the West Midlands she wanted the Party Election Broadcast.

As our Party's strategic 5 year plan is to stand throughout England in May 2014, both in order to win seats and thus get the traction and political and financial advantages of winning such seats, but also we wanted the Party Election Broadcast so that we could make further progress in building up our Party.  It was not therefore as an attractive offer to us as she may have thought it would be.  She asked me to come to a meeting to discuss it with her face to face which I said I would be happy to do but she ought to know that we would be standing throughout England. After that reply her interest in having a meeting subsided!

From this it seems blatantly obvious that her attack upon us is an expression of nothing more honourable than naked self-interest.  In doing so she has adopted language that those involved in politics all too often experience from the disreputable end of Leftism and from organisations like Hope Not Hate or Searchlight in their unscrupulous determination to support Labour interests regardless of the truth.

I suspect that the last laugh may prove to be against Nikki Sinclaire who I did not previously think had much chance of being re-elected under the banner of such a strangely named and avowedly single issue party as “We want an EU Referendum Party” but I understand Mike Nattrass is now considering standing in the West Midlands under the banner of a party that he has already got registered of “4 an EU Referendum Party”.  If ever there was to be a likelihood of two parties’ names cancelling each other out during an election, then this must be it!  What do you think?

THE NATTRASS HOKEY COKEY

                                                   THE MIKE NATTRASS HOKEY COKEY

In the run up to our annual conference and AGM we had rather a strange incident in which the ex-UKIP MEP, Mike Nattrass, who does seem to be a genuine convert to English nationalism, contradicted my press release welcoming him in joining the Party.  As he does seem to have claimed he did not know anything about this press release and also that he had only agreed to come to speak to our conference about HS2, I am reluctantly driven to think that I do owe it to our Party and to our credibility generally to explain what happened.

As I know, with my professional hat on as a solicitor, sometimes when a deal goes wrong clients may not have a clear trail of correspondence to show that they have acted with the utmost proprietary.  In this case, however, the email correspondence is absolutely crystal clear.  Mike Nattrass offered to stand for us. He wanted to do so partly because he felt what sounded like a justified sense of grievance that Nigel Farage had de-selected him from the UKIP list, despite him having been favoured by the local membership and previously elected as their No. 1 candidate on the last occasion.

We accordingly met Mike and his delightful wife in the West Midlands and we all got on very well.  Mike reassured us that he genuinely considers himself to be an Englishman and that he supported our move to campaigning for English Independence.  He particularly liked the irrefutable point that an English exit from the UK automatically means that we are also out of the EU.  He chortled at the comment of Mr Barrosso that in that case we "would have to reapply" for EU membership!.

So Mike made us a proposal that he would stand, but only continue as an MEP for one year, as he wished to retire from politics but also be vindicated.  Our original intention had been for Derek Hilling, our National Party Secretary, to stand as our No. 1 candidate in the West Midlands but if this deal went through, he, as No. 2 on our Party list, would then become our MEP because the retirement of an MEP does not trigger a by-election.

Mike Nattrass’s proposal appears in the email trail as does my draft press release and his suggested amendments.  Once the amendments were concluded I then began sending out the press release “embargo-ed” as previously agreed.  Once the press release had gone out most journalists obeyed it but with the significant exception of Michael Crick of Channel 4 News (and now of Godfrey Bloom infamy), who tweeted it but claimed to have done so by mistake.  He did apologise to me as I also show in the email trail.  The consequence was that the story was leaked before Mike Nattrass, or indeed I, were actually ready for the story to go out.

Much to my surprise rather than being relatively relaxed about the fact that, through neither of our faults the story was out, Mike Nattrass was furious and rang me up and swore at me, which seemed a bit unnecessary given that the leak was not my fault.  He then announced that he was withdrawing from coming over to us.

My initial thought was that we should leave any further comment until after the Conference weekend as it might by then have all blown over and that he should continue with coming to our conference, which he seemed initially to agree to, but I then discovered that he had actually told journalists that he did not know anything about this press release and had not authorised it!  That was disappointing to discover but does mean that I now have to put the record straight. I think the following correspondence does so.  What do you think?

Personally I liked Mike and I have no real hard feelings about what happened. I wish him every success in the future but not of course at the cost of our Party's reputation.

Dear Mike

I hope you are well.

I was sorry to see that you have not been selected by UKIP to stand in the 2014 EU Elections.

I was just  wondering as to whether it may be worth having a chat ?

Kind regards

Steve,

Being a Northerner I come to the point.

How many regions will you contest at the European elections please?

Who is your lead candidate for West Midlands please?

I am in the mood to help you, we have met and you impress me and providing we agree on policy (I need to just check) the publicity would be dynamic.

I have worked hard and done nothing wrong in UKIP. My personal following is very good (because I say it as it is, smile and insult everyone equally) My press contacts are very large.

My crime against Nigel was to point at racists in the EFD Group (not even the party). I wrote to the UKIP NEC and said that we should not associate with them. But Nigel needed the numbers, to keep the leadership of the group so I was not popular.

However what I had warned about then happened. Mario (Italian) who I had warned about, endorsed the views of the Norwegian mass murderer (giving Nigel more than a frown) and then racially abused a Black Italian Government Minister ..... final straw Nigel sacked him. SO THEY SAY I WAS NOT LOYAL TO THE PARTY! Sorry, no, just trying to protect the UKIP name from racists.

I look forward to talking.

Mike

Steve,

Yes, it may be worth having a chat.

I am back in the UK late on 5th and in my office at Hampton in Arden on 6th.
On 9th I will be in Strasbourg voting NO.

Can we meet 6th, 7th or 8th?

Where are you based?

Why not!

Mike

Dear Mike

A am a soft Southerner, but I do have a reputation for straight talking !

In  response to your questions.

1/  As an English Nationalist Party and we are against the EU, we Contest the 9 English EU Regions – and will be doing so in 2014, this qualifies the English Democrats for a Party Political Broadcast.

2/ My valued colleague and long standing party member and activist Derek Hilling (National Party Secretary) has already been recommended by the West Midlands Area Council to stand as the lead candidate in the West Midlands, this had been officially confirmed by our National Council, and will be announced on 21 September 2013 at our National Party Conference in Leicester on 21 September, along with the other 7 lead EU Candidates (excluding London where no selection has yet been made).

3/ We have met a couple of times, and you indeed kindly spoke at our English Democrats Conference a few years ago with Nikki Sinclaire, there were no personality problems from an English Democrats point of view, with either yourself or Nikki, and we would welcome your support.

4/ Nigel Farage – we are well aware of the antics of Nigel Farage- and the fact that he does not run UKIP along democratic lines, but considers UKIP  to be his  own private domain, there appear to be many UKIP members now unhappy about the UKIP Selection process.  The English Democrats have been victims of “double dealing” from Nigel Farage in the past.

5/ If your support of the English Democrats goes as far as wanting to stand for the English Democrats, then the current possibilities in the English Democrats for the 2014 EU Elections Candidates (subject to our selection process)  are therefore realistically either Lead candidate in London, or 2nd Spot in any other EU Region including the West Midlands standing for the English Democrats – you may like to also think about Yorkshire, as I know you are a Yorkshireman. (Again this would be subject to our Yorkshire Team and our selection process).

6/ Politics is a nasty game, but as we would also  be happy to land a blow on Nigel Farage, a defection of a sitting UKIP MEP to the English Democrats announced the week before BOTH conferences in 2013 would be a great first move in the 2014 EU Campaign, and would raise the profile of the English Democrats – the BBC would lap it up.

7/ Although time is short, then I believe we have time to sort out a mutually convenient arrangement, that follows the English Democrats procedures before Monday 16 September 2013.

Current English Democrats  Manifesto:- http://www.englishdemocrats.org.uk/policies-full-manifesto.html

If you are still interested in meeting, then two or three of us would be delighted to visit you next week in Hampton in Arden, probably early evening.

The most likely date is the 7th September 2013 for a meeting or after the 9th.

Proabably best to confirm meeting arrangements by telephone.

Kind regards

RE: Meeting up with the English Democrats ?

Steve,

Thank you for the direct reply and I would like to give you my thoughts honestly and without commitment either way at this stage.

On evening of 6th I will be in Worcester talking to a Chairman who backed me and got 400 UKIP members and some branches to back me .... I would throw the suggestion to him!!

A meeting with you anytime on 7th is good. I live in Sutton Coldfield but you may prefer to see the office at Hampton.
Birmingham International is 3 miles and Hampton in Arden has a station.

IF I joined your team I would become an English Democrat MEP with immediate effect. I am in Strasbourg on Monday 9th and could do it then.

I am getting lots of positive press in the West Midlands and I think if I run for you in 2014 I would do well. Reporters know me and my office base would not change.

At this point I would need to make friends with the current number one. Because I have a plan which would work to his advantage .............. will explain later.

As for 2015 ...... Skipton and Ripon would be my seat please!

ALL 'IF' but you can see that I trust you and like the plan.

Mike

DRAFT ...............
SUBJECT TO OUR MEETING ON 20th SEPT 2013.

1/ I will become an English Democrat MEP transferring from UKIP on 21 September 2013 – and recognise the opportunity to raise the profile of the English Democrats through the expected press attention, and would indeed encourage current UKIP members from all over England to join the English Democrats.

2/ The EU Communications budget and other MEP EU budgets are subject to tight EU rules and the English Democrats will not attempt to influence the MEP in breaking any of those rules.

EU money cannot for example be expended in The West Midlands Election Campaign and this is understood.

I will provide the £5000 deposit and recover it when refunded.
I will fund raise for my campaign and consult with yourselves throughout.

The 7 staff currently employed are dealing with constituency issues and whilst they gain good publicity for the MEP in solving constituency issues they are not for example a Campaign Team.

3/ I wish to head the West Midlands English Democrats Party List (Lead Candidate 2014 West Midlands) and serve as an MEP for 1 year if elected.

IN THE EVENT OF MY ELECTION AS AN MEP IN 2014...................

4/ I would employ Derek Hilling for one year from 1st September 2014 as part of my EU Staff if elected at £40,000 per year. (If he is not elected in the No 2 Slot)

5/ After one year I will step down on 1st September 2015 as the MEP for the West Midlands, and transfer to Derek Hilling

6/  At 1st September 2015 I will be employed by Derek Hilling MEP as part of his EU Staff for 2 years at £40,000 per year.

7/ Derek Hilling will continue to pay the rent at the regional office at 48 Fentham Road, Hampton in Arden B92 0AYoffice for the 5 year term operating until 2019.

8/ Derek Hilling MEP will take over and respect any existing staff contracts.

9 / I undertake to leave the position of MEP on 1st Sept 2015 and if Derek Hilling, for any reason, cannot take over the post of MEP then another person will be selected by the Leadership of the English Democrats and all of the above conditions will apply by the substitution of their name for that of Derek Hilling.

10/ I am willing to sign a legal document to confirm an agreement reached.

Thanks for this – we appear to be broadly in agreement, but no doubt Derek Hilling and David Lane will wish to add a few further details, especially relating to the 2014 Campaign and working together in the West Midlands.

Robin as you are aware is a Solicitor so the final version I suggest is produced by Robin Tilbrook, I hope this is OK ?

Derek Hilling (National Party Secretary) will confirm the arrangements for Friday Evening at the Leicester Hilton.

BREAKING NEWS - UKIP MEP, MIKE NATTRASS MOVES TO THE ENGLISH DEMOCRATS

UKIP’s only remaining West Midlands MEP has announced that he is moving from UKIP, partly in disgust at Nigel Farage’s corruption of the UKIP’s selection processes and also because Mike Nattrass wants to be part of the only genuine English Nationalist Party that wants England to be independent of the EU.  Mike Nattrass will be standing as the English Democrats’ Lead Candidate for the EU Parliament election on the 22nd May 2014, with supporting positions taken by Derek Hilling, our Party Secretary and David Lane, our West Midlands Chairman.

The English Democrats are delighted to welcome Mike Nattrass as a member of the English Democrats and as our first English Democrat MEP.  Mike’s move to join us is partly as a result of UKIP’s obsessive focus on the United Kingdom and the exclusion of any genuine interest in English interests.

Robin Tilbrook, the English Democrats Party Chairman, said:-  “I am delighted to welcome Mike Nattrass as a member of the English Democrats and look forward to working with him to get him re-elected this time as an English Democrats MEP, in May 2014.  Over the coming year I am fully expecting the question of Scottish Independence to become of increasing interest as we build up to the Scottish Independence referendum.  The English Democrats are England’s equivalent to the Scottish Nationalist Party and the only party that is a genuine English nationalist party.  At our conference one of the key proposals is the adoption of a keynote policy of Independence for England.”

Robin continued:- “Interestingly if England becomes independent the EU Justice Commissioner has already confirmed that any newly independent nation will automatically be outside of the EU, claiming that they would “have to re-join”!  Our policy of Independence for England will therefore appeal to all those who want England to leave the EU!”

A seismic Conference for the English Democrats?

People often use the expression seismic shift in talking about in a sort of poetical way to illustrate a moment when the tectonic plates, or in this case, nationalist politics in England shifts.

On Saturday, if the proposed manifesto change is adopted by the membership of the English Democrats, such a change will have occurred.

For the first time in history there will be an English nationalist political party which is campaigning for outright independence for England. This at the very time when in the other nations of the “United Kingdom” also have political parties campaigning for Independence and the dissolution of the United Kingdom. The English Democrats will therefore be taking their place as a full blown nationalist party with a national independence manifesto commitment equivalent to those in Scotland and Wales.

There however will be this great difference, we positively welcome the fact that the EU Commission has already indicated that any nation in the United Kingdom that leaves the United Kingdom will automatically be out of the EU. Entertainingly they say we would have to re-apply to join the EU. I respectfully suggest to them that there is no chance that the English would want to re-join it!

Here is our press release about the forthcoming conference. What do you think?

PRESS RELEASE

The English Democrats’ 11th Conference and Annual General Meeting of Party Members is to be held on the 21st September 2013 at 10.00 a.m. in Leicester.

All members of our Party are invited to attend, debate and vote on the agenda before us which includes whether our Party should adopt the following resolution on Independence for England:-

The English Democrats believe that England should again be an independent nation state and we will campaign to that end.

The English Democrats demand that a referendum be held for the People of England to decide whether England should become independent again and cede from the United Kingdom and the European Union.

We shall also be holding our opening session of the first English Parliament since 1707!

The ticket price of £25 includes morning coffee, a hot lunch and afternoon tea. We will also be hosting an evening dinner with a ticket price of £25.

UKIP’S ELECTION TURMOIL – OVER EU ELECTIONS

UKIP’S ELECTION TURMOIL – OVER EU ELECTIONS

It appears that UKIP is in the midst of a repeat of much the same sort of turmoil over the abuse of its selection procedures as has happened several times before the run up to the last couple of EU elections.

Last time this led to the creation of the splinter UK First Party, whose members are still prescribed from re-joining UKIP.

The trigger to that split was apparently Nigel Farage’s cavalier overriding of the agreed procedures to parachute into first place in the Eastern Region, David Campbell-Bannerman, pushing out the locally selected Robin Page and also in the South East parachuting in
Marta Andreasen (both of whom have, of course, since fallen out with Nigel Farage and gone over to the Conservative Party!).

Now it looks as if a similar situation is yet again developing within UKIP - as the email below, which I was sent, shows.

I was also aware of the situation because the English Democrats have been confidentially approached by some rightfully disgruntled UKIP potential candidates.

We will be happy to discuss the situation, naturally on a strictly confidential basis, with any others similarly interested in talking to the English Democrats.

Here is the article which was emailed to me. I believe it has been widely circulated on email and on the internet. What do you think?

Subj: Fw: STAND UP AND BE COUNTED - RE BAD UKIP MEP SELECTIONS

All is far from well in the UKIP camp then !!

The following is from a UKIP activist. If you read it objectively you cannot fail (IMHO) to see that the whole MEP selection process is at its core nothing but a massive deception upon ordinary UKIP members.

What you do about it is up to you. But all of you should seriously consider if this sort of thing is appropriate behaviour for party managers to act???

PS: Note also that the upcoming Conference to be held in Telford was organised behind the back of the Regional Committee and before the selection process started!! Undoubtedly to back Nigel's choices in the Region. Jill Seymour you've got a few questions to answer!!!

BEGINS:

I am totally shocked that my two local UKIP members from Derbyshire David Gale one of the best police commissioner results for UKIP, and Phillip Rose secretary of the East Midlands counties committee, has not made the list to be voted on for the MEP selections. As these are two hard working local activists, the fact that they have not made the final cut is dubious to say the least.

Several of the areas are being represented in the MEP selection process by people they do not want. All our candidates have come from two counties so we have no representation from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Rutland. This will impact on our vote at the ballot box. The down side of this is that instead of having four MEP’s in the next elections, we will probably only have one. It has been apparent that the list has been picked by Steve Crowther, Party Chairman, raising doubts about his suitability as future chairman of the party.

In the East Midlands these are the candidates we have been given are as follows:-

Barry Mahoney ~ this man has never done anything in or for the region in the last eight years. He did not campaign in the last European election at all, and was not re voted onto the east midlands committee because of his lack of attendance at meetings.

Roger Helmer ~ came over from the conservatives, supposed to be retiring through ill health. He has not been to an East Midlands regional meeting yet even though he has been in the party a year and a half. He has not contributed financially to the region either.

Margot Parker ~ stood against UKIP at the last European elections. She stood in Corby in the by-election which is a plus point for her. Unfortunately she did not bother to stand for UKIP in a previous council by-election a few months before leaving the seat uncontested. She also left the general election seat uncontested at the last general elections. Her profession is advising people how to get around EU law, so if she obtains the post of MEP we will be adding to her job CV and she will not be inclined to push forward for the UK to leave the EU.

Jonathan Bullock ~ has only been in the party 9 months, he should not be eligible to stand as the criteria is you have to be in the party 12 months.

Nigel Wickens ~ nobody knows who Nigel Wickens is.

The above does not make good reading for anybody in the party that wants to move forward. I thought the national selection process was a good idea and although, I was not in UKIP during the last European elections these results seem to suggest that the regions selection process was a far better process last time. The fact that concludes my thoughts is that Lincolnshire activist, Christopher Pain, has not made the list. He has worked hard for the party for years attained the positions of Branch Chairman, Counties Chairman, East Midlands Chairman, NEC member, County Councillor, organised conferences and had some of the best election results for the party.

We then have to look at Mike Nattrass MEP being told he was not worthy for selection in the West Midlands makes a mockery of the all system. He has been one of the most hard working MEP’s, after Nigel Farage, in the whole party. He has worked tirelessly and donating hundreds of thousands of pounds to the party.

Neil Hamilton has been deemed unworthy to stand for selection in the South West, but his silence has been bought by a high luxury job in the party.

All three of the following are not in the top 10, but 6 people who are not known in the area are above them, why?

In the south east Steve Harris their regional organiser was number 3 candidate on the last MEP list.

Andrew Montclies ex NEC member and policy writer for UKIP

Piers Wauchop NEC member long standing with 8 years plus as a County Councillor, a hard working kingpin in the south east.

In London Paul Oakley is top of the list an unknown character not been a hard working activist for UKIP, yet he has been deemed to be a higher calibre than MEP Gerard Batten.

Then we look slightly further afield Jonathan Arnott has been placed number 1 on the list in the North East. This has dismayed local activists as they have never seen Jonathan Arnott in the region at all, people do not know who he is.

David Coburn has been placed number 1 in Scotland the information coming from Scotland is that he has not been there for 30 plus years.

These are just a few examples of the bazaar selection process that appears to be riddled with corruption from UKIP.

I joined UKIP because I thought they were the party of the people and as an activist I am absolutely distraught at the way many good candidates across the country have been treated and bypassed.....

Fellow activists and I have decided that if this injustice is not addressed we will not be actively campaigning or donating to the European elections at all. I believed UKIP to be a democratic party yet it appears we are taking on the habits of the EU which I despise strongly

A Once Dedicated UKIP Activist

In Memoriam - Leo Brookes

It is with great sadness that I write to publicise the death of Leo Brookes (1949 - 2013).

Leo was well known and was very well liked throughout our Party and was a leading English Nationalist. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts go to his brother who found him dead at his flat over the weekend.

Leo served his country proudly as a soldier and he had a great sense of humour. Recently Leo sadly had suffered ill health and had bad ephysema but he was always willing to help out whenever and wherever he could. He stood for the Party in several elections achieving creditable results and had previously been an organiser in the now defunct Democratic Party.

Leo who was 64 had been active in the English Democrats since 2004, he stood in the Greater London Authority and General Elections, and had been London Secretary and Deputy Chairman of our London Party. Leo loved England, good company and was an avid fan of the sport of Rugby.

I will publicise details of his funeral when I know them, as I am sure many of us will wish to attend to pay our respects.

Robin Tilbrook
Chairman,
The English Democrats

Wanted - Nicholas Kenyon - £1,000 Reward for Information Leading to Prosecution and Conviction for Anti-English Hate Speech. Last Night of the Proms were "dangerously English" says ex-BBC boss Sir Nicholas Kenyon

Wanted - Nicholas Kenyon - £1,000 Reward for Information Leading to Prosecution and Conviction for Anti-English Hate Speech.

Last Night of the Proms were "dangerously English" says ex-BBC boss Sir Nicholas Kenyon.

I will pay a reward. To claim the Reward report this matter to the Police and get Kenyon prosecuted and Convicted for Anti-English "Hate Speech"!
Any Police Officer who refuses to act and claims that this isn't a Racist remark should be reported to the Police Complaints!

Section 18 of the Public Order Act 1986 says:
"A person who uses ... abusive or insulting words .... is guilty of an offence if—
.... having regard to all the circumstances racial hatred is likely to be stirred up thereby."

Section 4A of the Public Order Act 1986 says:

"A person is guilty of an offence if, with intent to cause a person ..... distress, he— (a) uses .... abusive or insulting words ..... thereby causing that or another person ... distress."

The Crown Prosecution Service has an agreement with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that the police will identify a file that meets the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report definition of a racist incident when they send it to the CPS to prosecute.
That definition is:

"A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person."

So if you consider it so, it is! Insist upon your right to report it and their obligation to act on the report. You merely need to confirm that you feel that Anti-English hatred is likely to be stirred up (Sect. 18) and that you are caused distress (Sect. 4A) and that you see it as Racist.

Race is legally defined as as a "Protected Characteristic" under Section 4 of the Equality Act 2010. "Race" is used in a very wide sense of an individual's race, colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins

As the Daily Mail Reports:-
"It is the flag-waving finale to one of the cultural highlights of the nation’s calendar.
But according to its former director, patriotic fervour should be kept to a minimum at the Last Night of the Proms.
Sir Nicholas Kenyon, who ran the concert series for 11 years until 2007, claimed the event was ‘dangerously English’ until he brought in a host of international musicians to make it more ‘inclusive’.
The former BBC Radio 3 controller welcomed the fact this year’s concert will feature talent from overseas.
He told BBC Radio 4’s Broadcasting House programme yesterday: ‘The Last Night of the Proms, from being something dangerously English, has now become something totally inclusive.
‘We’ve taken it on and my successor Roger Wright has kept this going – the Proms in the Park in Hyde Park and around the country –  and this has developed absolutely marvellously. It has been a great Proms season.’
Among those performing in the finale at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday are conductor Marin Alsop and opera singer Joyce DiDonato – both American.
Sir Nicholas was responsible for booking the concert’s first American conductor, Leonard Slatkin, in 2001.
The choice drew protests, particularly after Mr Slatkin attacked one of the traditional Last Night anthems – Rule, Britannia! – as ‘militaristic’ and ‘outdated’.
But Sir Nicholas, who is now managing director of London’s Barbican centre, defended his decision to open the concert to the world, saying: ‘It’s a celebration of the best of British, but now in an international context with musicians from all over the world – just like at the Barbican, where we try and welcome as international a range of musicians, artists and performers as possible..."
